Lajos Kossuth became leader of Hungary in the 1840s, but his bid for independence from Austria was defeated after the Russians marched in, and he fled into exile. He lived in this mansion 1850 / 1851, later living in the US, Britain and Italy. The two-storey wooden mansion has been restored to period and displays his life and times.
